The 2014 Summer at ICERM program is designed for a selected group of 12-14 undergraduate scholars. Students work in groups of two or three, supervised by faculty advisors and aided by teaching assistants.
Located in historic Providence, Rhode Island and founded in 1764, Brown University is the seventh-oldest college in the United States. Brown is an independent, coeducational Ivy League institution comprising undergraduate and graduate programs. The mission of the Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics (ICERM) is to support and broaden the relationship between mathematics and computation.
During the 2014 Summer at ICERM program the faculty organizers will describe a number of interesting, open-ended problems in combinatorics, discrete geometry, and number theory for study at the Summer@ICERM 2014 program. These problems arise in current research, are amenable to computation and experimentation, and may be approached from a number of different angles.
Applicants must be enrolled in their undergraduate program and must not yet have graduated with an undergraduate degree at the time of the program start.
