Who Can Apply?
Candidates should meet the following PM internship scheme eligibility criteria:
- Educational Qualification
- Final-year students (graduation/postgraduation)
- Candidates in online/distance learning programs
- Candidates who have completed:
- High School/Secondary School
- Higher Secondary School
- ITI
- Polytechnic Diploma
- UG: BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BBA, BPharma, or BE/BTech
- PG: MA, MSc, MCom, MCA, or MTech
- Age Limit: 18-25 Years
- Citizenship: Indian
Who is NOT Eligible?
The following ineligibility criteria under the PM internship Scheme 2026 apply if you are:
- Pursuing full-time education (except final-year students)
- Currently engaged in full-time employment
- Have studied a graduation or post-graduation degree from either IIM, IIT, IISER, IIIT, National Law Universities, NIDs, or IISc
- Hold qualifications such as BDS, MBBS, MD, MS, CA, CMA, CS, MBA (or equivalent), MPhil, or PhD
- Undergoing any apprenticeship/internship/training program under a Central or State Government scheme
- Have completed an apprenticeship or training under NATS or NAPS at any point
- Have a family income above ₹12 lakh/year in the preceding financial year, as on the date of submission of the application
- Have a family member (self, parents, or spouse) as a permanent/regular government employee (excluding contractual employees)

Step-by-Step Application Process
The PMIS application process has 3 stages:
Stage 1: PM Internship Registration
- Visit the official website for the Prime Minister Internship Scheme
- Go to the ‘Login/Register’ tab
- Click on ‘New User? Register Now’
- Enter a mobile number linked to your Aadhaar and confirm via OTP
- Create the password
Stage 2: Complete e-KYC
- Go to the ‘My Profile’ tab and complete Aadhaar e-KYC and link your DigiLocker (mandatory)
Stage 3: Apply for Internships
- Click the ‘Candidate Dashboard’ button
- Select the ‘State’, ‘District’, ‘Sector’, and ‘Field’ options
- Internship listings will appear
- Click ‘View Details’ to read the internship description
- If any internship interests you, click ‘Apply Now’
- Follow the procedure to complete the application
- Check notifications to view the update on your internship application
