\"InternshipAbout the Author:\u00a0<\/strong>Sruthi Dhulipala, an engineering student from VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering & Technology (VNR VJIET), recounts her experience as a Public Relations Intern at MDS Fabrics.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

One fine day, I came across a Public Relations internship at “MDS Fabrics”, on Internshala. Though I hadn’t heard of the company until then, I still decided to apply.\u00a0<\/span>Weeks later, I got a call from the HR Associate saying that I was shortlisted for the interview. The next day, I went for the interview with mixed feelings swirling inside me. With a tinge of nervousness, I sat down, waiting for the Managing Director. His cheerful tone washed away all my nervousness. He asked me about my educational qualifications, while he went through my resume. He seemed skeptic about offering the internship to an engineering student. I started explaining how communication had always been my passion and how I had participated in similar events in the past. He kept nodding and continued to inquire about my passion for writing. With that question raised, I started speaking even more confidently about my interests and beliefs. The interview ended with a cheerful goodbye and him saying, “You are hired. You can join us from Monday.”<\/p>\n

My internship started and, believe me, it was more fun than I could ever imagine it to be. I created campaigns and pitched magazines for prospective collaborations. Apart from this, I pitched emails and drafted marketing strategies. I was given the opportunity to give a presentation, which helped me to understand how a company functions. I had earned my trust and position; I was given tasks which were more than what an intern could be trusted with. The internship lasted for five months which were till date, the best five months of my life! Slowly, days turned into weeks and colleagues turned into friends. Learning sessions turned into sessions of action!\u00a0I learnt a lot through out my tenure.\u00a0The most important thing being that a company’s brand should not be the only concern for picking up an internship.<\/p>\n

Along with all the knowledge and exposure that I got, I also learnt many things that prepared me to face the world out there. I experienced stress and I witnessed fear, but what inspired me was the way I was taught to tackle it. I learnt the importance of teamwork and how we must stand for each other in the times of need. This internship taught me what is needed to be a professional, a team leader and mainly, an empathetic person.\u00a0\u00a0My internship experience was not like the routine internships; I experienced something more than just the work.<\/p>\n

On the last day of my internship, I took away with me a bunch of life lessons and loads of memories. As I look back now, a smile appears on my face when I remember those moments – work stress leading to coffee breaks, deep conversations over lunch, excitement for the photo shoots and campaigns that we launched, and motivating each other at the time of need.<\/p>\n

In a nutshell, my internship experience has prepared me to chase my dreams and face the world, without any fears!<\/p>\n
