I tried a lot but to my disappointment I couldn't find some place that I would love working, because for me if you don't love what you work on you won't do your best.\\n\\tAlmost at the end of the first semester of the third year, one day I randomly just searched for Production Prop Companies in India, and low and behold in front of my eyes was the name WINLASS STEELCRAFTS. After going to the company sight I saw that the company made Weapons and Armors for places all around the world. From Army Parade swords to Replicas From museums all around of the world to even Hollywood movies like Batman Begins, Narnia Prince Caspian, Conan the Barbarian and many more. I was over-joyed I quickly searched for the location of the company and to add to my joy and surprise the mother branch was situated in Dehradun my home town.\\n\\tI immediately called my dad and told him about the place. He went to check out and see what kind of place it was. Next day I called the office of the company and talked to them and told them about my internship and my interests. I was told to Come during the winter break and meet them.\\n\\tSo in December Exactly six month before the scheduled duration of the internship I went to the company office for my interview with the Chairman company and another interview with the Chairman's brother who was the owner of a sister branch in Atlanta, Georgia.\\n\\tI had no portfolio ready, just the raw files that I had in my laptop for college submissions, and images of my work. I did not have a decked up portfolio like people usually have with them to impress their interviewers just my Honest work in a file on my computer to show them.\\nDuring the interview my bossed saw my work asked me a few questions, and was quite surprised that there was a student who was interested in that field. According to him I was most probably the only person in India who was interested in designing in that field. Reason being they were one of the only companies that worked in this field in India and this was the first time someone had approached them for an internship in this field.\\n\\tHe Loved my work so much that he immediately was ready to take me in and offered me the internship plus he was ready to let me come back and work for them during my Graduation Project. He also specified that he liked that I did not show him a decked up portfolio, but instead showed him my just my work and was honest to him.\\n\\tSo basically six months before we were supposed to get an internship according to college, I had already acquired an internship and that also in one of the best companies that I would have been able to find. And I didn't have to make a portfolio with \u201cglitter and sugar\u201d to get it.\\n\\tWhen my 6 week internship started I was given all freedom to design whatever I wanted. This period was basically the time where they were going to see what I was actually able of doing. Plus this was the first time they were hiring a person for a post like that they wanted to see what a designer could do.\\n\\tSo Basically started of with sketching different kings of concepts for daggers, death scythes, swords. Every person there used to come by see me sketching and ask me what was I doing and what kind of work am I here to do. It was kinda trying explaining again and again that I was a designer and i was there to develop new and different kinds of Blades and swords.\\n\\tBy the end of 4 weeks I had a bunch of different sketches withe me. One day the Chairman(referred to as Boss) dropped by my cabin and saw my work. He was greatly impressed by it and immediately selected two designs for me to develop as prototype samples.\\n\\tThe next two weeks was just me running around their factory getting those two prototypes made. In this time span I was able to interact with all the artisans in the facility and make a good and lasting rapo with them. They were over joyed to see a young boy paying so much attention to them and admiring their work, sitting with them while they worked.\\n\\tIt was an amazing experience learning what all actually went into the making of a sword and how much effort is done by every one in the company to provide world class services. By the end of the 6 weeks is was able to develop two products one a Eleven Dagger named SURA, and a miniature Death scythe because making six feet tall weapon to take back to college would have been kinda like going over-board.\\n\\tSo on my last day I was called to Boss's office. I have never seen a man more down to earth than him. He talked to me like he knew me from ages. Taking about my family, my future and all. When I told him that in a year I have to do a Graduation Project in the industry, his sudden reply was \u201cToh yahi par kar lena project. Tumhe jo madat chahiye miljayegi chinta mat kar. Aur rahi baat jumhare future ki graduation ke baat mil lena humse dekhte hai ki tumhe Atlanta mai koi achi designer post dedenge\u201d. I was overwhelmed by his kindness and was able to leave the place as the happiest guy around.\\n\\tThis was more than a year ago and now I am doing my Graduation Project. Guess what I am doing it at WINDLASS STEELCRAFTS only. I am working on projects that i would have never dreamed of working on if not for them. One of the projects includes developing props for an upcoming Bollywood film.\\n\\tSo this is my advice to all you young aspiring designers out there who want to get a good internship\/job out there.Any good firm or company will never look at your degrees but will look at your work and how much heart you put in it. Just give your heart out while you work and your dreams will slowly but surely come true. So never give up and never get disheartened till the time you work hard there will always be a place that you will belong to and people who will be ready to give you wings."}\" data-sheets-userformat=\"{"2":513,"3":[null,0],"12":0}\">This was more than a year ago, and currently, I am doing my graduation project at Windlass Steelcrafts itself.
