About the college: —<\/strong> Malaviya National Institute of Technology (Jaipur) has had quite an enviable success story: started as Malaviya Regional Engineering College in 1963 with two departments and 60 students, today the institute has grown to a population of about 5,000 students and about four hundred faculty. It has also been declared an “Institute of National Importance” by the Government of India. We did some digging and were pleased to find that MNIT does live up to this title, at least in the domain of internships.<\/p>\n

About the internships: —<\/strong> MNIT’s stress on internships that matter can be better understood through part of its mission statement:<\/p>\n

To create technical manpower for meeting the current and future demands of industry.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

With such focus on creating industry-ready professionals, the list of recruiting organizations is hardly a surprise.<\/p>\n

Top recruiting organizations: —<\/strong>The list of companies that have offered internships to MNIT students includes names such as Microsoft, Ericsson Global, Bajaj Auto, Drishti Software Solutions, NTPC, BHEL, IOCL, BPCL, DRDO, ISRO, Maruti, Hero Honda and Atkins Global. MNIT is also quite proud of the research internships students do in countries like Germany, Singapore, Canada, UK and South Korea.<\/p>\n

What the Placement Committee has to say:–<\/strong> Mr. Ashok Agarwal, Faculty Co-ordinator, says:<\/p>\n

Summer internships offer students an opportunity to work in a professional space, to acquaint themselves with the real world application of technologies they learn on the campus and to enhance their technical skills. This exposure will help them deliver their best when they join the industry as working professionals. In short, it prepares them for their future jobs.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

What the students have to say:<\/strong> \u2014 Richa Gupta, a Computer Science student who graduated from MNIT this year, says:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

A lot of good companies visit MNIT for providing internships and many of them also make Pre-Placement Offers to the students which is very beneficial. Every year, many students visit foreign universities for research based internships. The placement cell plays a very important role in all this. They play the role of mediators between the company and the students. They also invite various companies to the campus for both placements and internships.<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n
The most interesting internship: \u2013<\/strong> 8 MNIT students have been awarded the Working Internship in Science and Engineering (WISE) scholarship by German Academic Exchange Programme for May-June 2012. These students are from the Mechanical, Computer, Civil, Chemical and Electrical branches.<\/div>\n

  1. Qualcomm selected 3 students with a stipend of 20,000 INR<\/li>\n
  2. Microsoft India (MSIDC) \u00a0selected 4 students with a stipend of 25,000 INR<\/li>\n
  3. Microsoft India (MSIT) selected 1 student with a stipend of 25,000 INR<\/li>\n
  4. Ericsson Global selected 4 students with a stipend of 8,000 INR.<\/li>\n
  5. Drishti Software Solutions and Microsoft India made PPO’s to their interns.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In placement session 2010-11,<\/em><\/div>\n

    1. Atkins Global selected 2 students with a stipend of 10,000 INR<\/li>\n
    2. Mahindra and Mahindra chose 2 students with a stipend of 15,000 INR.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The internship culture:–<\/strong> Sahil Jain, Student Placement Co-ordinator, says that there is much awareness and enthusiasm regarding internships among MNIT students:<\/p>\n

      The students are always keen to acquaint themselves with the latest technology prevailing in the industry and to enhance \u00a0their technical skills.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

      In short, it would not be a stretch to say that MNIT students look at internships as more than just 60 days of mandatory practical training; and for their part, the college and the placement committee help to make their students industry-ready, and the results are there for all to see during their job placements<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
