\"\"<\/a>This internship is for all those who want to make India a better place to live, who believe in \u201cBe the change that you want to see\u201d. Those familiar with history and with an interest in Environment would know the widespread impact “Chipko Movement” of 70s had in formulation of environment sensitive policies by the Govt.\u00a0 Another similar landmark event in the history of Indian polity system was introduction of RTI (Right to Information act) which is heralded as single most powerful instrument to bring transparency and accountability in the functioning of Govt. and administration. The internship is a combination of a great cause (preserving the environment) & even greater means (RTI & PIL). A great opportunity for those who want to be the change agent and want to develop an in-depth understanding on environmental issues and nitty gritty of how does the whole RTI & PIL process work. The last date to apply is 30th<\/sup> April 2012<\/strong>. – Rush!<\/p>\n

About Himalayan Chipko Foundation: – <\/strong>Himalayan Chipko Foundation (www.himalayanchipkofoundation.com) is a knowledge based initiative to preserve the environment. Foundation has filed several PILs in Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal regarding environmental issues relating to the Himalayas especially excessive cutting of trees in the pretext of development. Foundation want volunteers who would file RTIs and collect information from other sources about various topics related to the environment. They can take one or two issues at a time. When the information collected by them is conclusive, the foundation will file a PIL to save ‘that issue’ from unhealthy exploitation by the criminal and “system”.<\/p>\n

About Internship: –<\/strong>\u00a0Candidates will be given the various topics and foundation will guide them to file RTI application. Foundation will also give them leads to collect information from other sources. When the information has been collected, foundation will file the PILs and candidates will be given credit for it. This is a work from home internship where candidate will be in regular touch with the foundation through emails \/ phone calls.<\/p>\n

Who can apply: –<\/strong>\u00a0Anyone who is concerned for the environment and wants to gain hands on experience with RTI.\u00a0 The most important factor is that the intern should have commitment to complete the task.<\/strong> Students of law, social work, environment or engineering\u00a0 degree will stand an advantage. Interns from other discipline can also apply and will be guided by HCF. The candidate would need access to a computer with internet connection.<\/p>\n
