An exciting opportunity for Life Science students to spend the summer doing an all expense paid academic research internship at EPFL School of Life Sciences, Switzerland. The last date to apply is January 31st, 2013<\/strong>, but applying early may help. Looking at participants list of last year, seems no one from India attended it in 2011. Wonder if you guys would change that this year!<\/p>\n

About Internship: – <\/strong>The Summer Research Program in Life Sciences and Technology at the Ecole Polytechnique F\u00e9d\u00e9rale de Lausanne (EPFL) will offer an intensive research training opportunity to 25 undergraduate students interested in research careers in life sciences. Each student will be matched with a specific laboratory based on the student’s interest and background. The student will be working as a member of the research group for a period of eight weeks under the supervision of the lab head or a member of his\/her research group (graduate student or postdoctoral fellow) on a specific project related to the laboratory’s research programs. The participants will also attend a series of weekly seminars and workshops given by faculty and researchers from the EPFL.<\/p>\n

Each participant will be required to submit a formal written report and present the results of their research at a student symposium held at the end of the program which provides an opportunity for participants to experience presenting their data to their peers and the scientific community at the EPFL.<\/p>\n

Participating labs are BMI-Brain Mind Institute, GHI-Global Health Institute, IBI-Institute of Bioengineering, <\/strong>& ISREC-Swiss Institute for Experimental Cancer Research<\/strong><\/p>\n

Who can apply<\/strong>: – An interested student<\/p>\n

– Must be enrolled in a degree program in biology, physics, chemistry, bio-engineering or computational sciences and plan on pursuing a career in the life sciences. Basic Life Sciences background is essential. Previous lab experience is a plus.<\/p>\n

– Must be in good standing with a GPA equivalent to a “B” grade or higher and should have completed at least 2 years of undergraduate coursework by the summer of 2012.<\/p>\n

Location: –<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Lausanne, Switzerland<\/p>\n

Duration: –<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>July 4th, 2013 – August 28th, 2013<\/p>\n

Stipend: – <\/strong>CHF 3200 + upto CHF 1200 towards cost of travel (basic actual)<\/p>\n
