\"LawA girl who never travelled alone, came out of the womb of protection and\u00a0travelled faraway distances alone during her internship. She learnt and dealt cases out of her courtroom too. Shruti is a law student who never ceases to miss an opportunity from where she can learn and grow.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

People say that a good internship adds to your CV only, but I say that internship adds fun, knowledge and a feeling of being independent to your life. That’s exactly what happened when I started interning under a criminal lawyer. Law is a challenging profession in itself and when you prefix the word criminal it goes to a whole new level. This summer I interned under a criminal lawyer at Karkarduma court, Delhi. The Internship was undoubtedly proved to be the most thrilling experience I have ever had. We often talk about cases dealing with rapes, acid attacks, kidnapping etc. but when it comes to you as a case, the situation changes. Your shoulder bears a heavy weight when the onus of saving an innocent or reducing the charges against the accused lies on you. That’s what I experienced this time. The lawyer made efforts to save the innocents and also appeared as defence lawyer in many cases. Apart from the legal knowledge, I learned that how difficult it is for a working lady to manage. I stayed with my sister during this period. She had her exams during that period. The struggle started when I had to travel all the way from Hauz Khas to Karkarduma court early in the morning. When the metro was flooded, during the peak hours I had to travel in it. I was lucky when I got a seat to sit but usually it didn’t happen. Travelling for an hour, learning to travel alone, understanding the people around you, facing them and acting accordingly is what I learnt during this period. A girl who travels with her friends and family every time, travelled alone this time. Not just this but there were days when our cook did not come and those were the days when I had no option but to cook after coming from that scorching heat.<\/p>\n

All these little things (may be for some) taught me a lot. This experience not only enlightened my legal knowledge but also made me bold and independent enough to face this world.
\nI take this opportunity to thank my sir and all his juniors who made this learning experience a memorable one.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
