Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will. Ankit is pursuing MBA and shares his wonderful experience of internship days.<\/em><\/p>\n

Okay, so, here’s an opportunity to share my Internship Story with anyone (apart from friends, family,relatives, girlfriend, batch mates, neighbours, neighbour’s dog and the tapri wale bhayya).<\/p>\n

I was one of the very few lucky guys (in the highly female dominated stream – HR ) to get placed during the dreaded placement week. It was Capgemini and the location was the City of Dreams – Mumbai. Being the only person to be placed in Capgemini, I was as nervous as being asked to dance on an item number on a stage in front of a swarm of people.<\/p>\n

I had tremendous amount of preconceived notions and expectations from a B-school internship, however, the debut proved to be a golden duck for my expectations, all came crashing down. I was expecting a fun-filled induction program with alot of goodies, interaction with fellow interns and most importantly, a pre-decided project deliverable for me. Unfortunately, none of it happened (but, I guess, it was the case with other company interns as well, so it gave me a sense of not-being-the-only-unlucky-fellow.)<\/p>\n

I was aligned with the HR Business Partner team, taking care of the Infrastructure Services, one of the six business units at Capgemini. To my dismay, I was the only intern in my team, and one of the two interns in my business unit. Let me tell you, being the only intern in your team does help you with the autonomy to work, but it also has its side-effects, you have no sense of competition and no one to compete with. My project was not very specific in terms of the deliverable, but it had got something to do with Employee Engagement.<\/p>\n

As the weeks passed, I gave in my cent percent, delivered more than what was asked for and provided some excellent recommendations (Okay, I am sorry for being boastful , now stop killing me in your thoughts ). Lets admit it, every damn intern works only for a PPO, I was no different.<\/p>\n

When the internship finally came to an end, my mentor provided me with a wonderful feedback, but as destiny had it, apparently, there was no vacancy in my business unit, so no PPO with Capgemini for me and i was heartbroken.<\/p>\n

Overall, I learnt how to enjoy the journey and not worry about the destination. My internship experience would always stay with me for how it helped me learn (whatever I could) from whatever possible. Cheers to Capgemini!<\/p>\n
