The project involves developing innovative solutions to improve patient care, monitoring, and diagnosis by leveraging computer vision & artificial intelligence. The percentage of the elderly population in the USA is growing rapidly. This means that there are fewer caregivers to support them. There is an urgent need to develop technologies that would allow seniors to live independently in their own residences. One such breakthrough technology we are working on is remote monitoring of seniors using smart cameras combined with deep learning algorithms, with the aim of fall detection and very importantly, fall prediction. This internship will be an opportunity to take a leadership role in such a project.
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Developing deep learning and/or traditional image processing algorithms for video analysis of unstructured environments
2. Pre-processing data, developing algorithms, and training models
3. Thinking out of the box to collect relevant data to feed the models
4. Exploring partnerships and other methods for data collection
5. Deploying cameras and more
