The Campus Ambassador (CA) program is an initiative to
empower young leaders while giving them a first-hand
experience in leadership, communication, and organizational
skills.
The Campus Ambassador s day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. To form a team of students (campus interns) from their
respective colleges
2. To facilitate completion of 100 (minimum) surveys by the
team
3. To organize one on-site activity. (Safety Sprawl/Audit)
4. To conceptualize and run one Social Media campaign
5. To facilitate personal & team Social Media engagement
6. To participate in Safecity s online & offline events, campaigns
& competitions
7. To organize one off-site activity. (Street Play/Safety Sprawl)
8. To organize an outdoor activity of the team s choice
Safecity is a platform that crowdsources personal stories of sexual harassment and abuse in public spaces. This data, which may be anonymous, gets aggregated as hot spots on a map indicating trends at a local level. The idea is to make this data useful for individuals, local communities, and the local administration to identify factors that cause behavior leading to violence and work on strategies for solutions. Since our launch on 26th December 2012, we have collected almost 9000 stories from over 50 cities in India, Nepal, Kenya, and Cameroon.
Safecity aims to make cities safer by encouraging equal access to public spaces for everyone, especially women, through the use of crowdsourced data and technology.
