About ClayRoot Sustainable Development Foundation:
ClayRoot Sustainable Development Foundation (CSDF) is a non-profit organization conducting action and impact-oriented research on developmental issues of environmental and social significance. We strongly believe that research is an effective tool that is imperative for addressing multi-dimensional challenges, especially prevalent in developing and emerging countries. We organize our research into thrust areas namely- ecosystems & biodiversity, policy, people & governance, water, renewable energy, sustainable livelihoods, urban sustainability & climate change. We work with diverse groups of actors such as communities, corporate groups, government agencies, social and green entrepreneurs on diverse topics.
About the Internship:
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Providing fieldwork support that includes planning for surveys and data collection tools, vegetation surveys, data entry, writing, and GIS
2. Conducting vegetation surveys, coordinating with forest department officials, and some participatory rural appraisal exercises
3. Support project lead in data management and other tasks as necessary

  2. can start the internship between 12th Nov'17 and 12th Dec'17
  3. are available for duration of 3 months
  4. have relevant skills and interests
Additional Information:
The project is a collaborative study between CSDF and Maharashtra Forest Department on afforestation planning of acquired private forest in Maharashtra. The field work will provide data on vegetation status and management challenges for the acquired private forest in Maharashtra. The internship will begin in mid-December and through mid-March. Experience certificate will be provided.

At the end of the term, there is probably an opportunity to develop the role into an established position within the organization. The current opportunity falls in our ecosystem and biodiversity. The role will provide the intern with an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience of performing ecological surveys, application of basic GIS, and apply some participatory rural appraisal methods in the forestry sector.
