We are looking for a highly motivated textile intern to join our dynamic team in the furniture industry. This internship provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with textiles used in upholstery, furniture design, and production processes. You will collaborate with designers, product developers, and production teams to assist with fabric selection, pattern development, and quality control for furniture textiles. Ideal candidates will have a passion for interior design, textiles, and the furniture manufacturing process.
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Fabric selection: assist in selecting and sourcing fabrics for various furniture pieces, ensuring they meet both aesthetic and functional requirements.
2. Design support: collaborate with the design team to create and test fabric patterns, textures, and color schemes for upholstered furniture.
3. Upholstery materials research: help with research on new and innovative upholstery materials, including sustainable and durable fabrics.
4. Production assistance: support in overseeing the production of furniture, ensuring that the chosen textiles are accurately applied to prototypes and final products.
5. Quality control: participate in inspecting fabric durability, texture, wear resistance, and overall performance for furniture applications.
6. Sampling and testing: assist in preparing fabric samples for customer approval, as well as conducting tests on fabric properties such as shrinkage, stretch, and abrasion resistance.
7. Collaboration with suppliers: communicate with fabric suppliers and manufacturers to ensure timely delivery and quality of materials.
8. Documentation and reporting: assist in tracking textile samples, production progress, and fabric inventory.

Required qualifications:
1. Current student or recent graduate with a background in textile design, fashion design, interior design, upholstery, or related fields.
2. Strong interest in textiles and furniture design.
3. Basic knowledge of textile materials, properties, and manufacturing processes relevant to furniture production.
4. Familiarity with materials used in upholstery (e.g., leather, velvet, linen, etc.).
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
6. Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with different teams.
7. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
8. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred qualifications:
1. Experience or coursework related to furniture design, upholstery, or interior design.
2. Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Illustrator, CAD, or 3D design tools (a plus).
3. Knowledge of sustainable and eco-friendly fabric practices is a plus.
4. Previous internship or experience in the furniture industry (a plus).
