The intern will be working on an ongoing initiative called the 'Campus Climate: Towards Building A Feminist Campus'. This project will identify and spotlight sexual harassment, patriarchy and victim blame on campuses, and create an Action Shero campus network committed to building I Never Ask For It on their campus.
Phase 1: Research (completed):
Phase 2: (to be undertaken by selected intern) In Phase 2, the intern will interview a minimum of 12 student leaders from 12 campuses across India, identified through the research conducted in phase 1. This phase will allow for the research to move from sources that have been visible in the news media, to identifying and inviting student leaders to share their narratives of student resistance and campus climate in their own words and voices. The intern will document first-person narratives of student protests and attempt to document, raise questions and analyze patterns in student resistance.
1. Documenting student-led protests in response to victim blame and patriarchy between 2018 - 2019
2. Documenting of audio-visuals of min. 9 - max. 12 about stories of student resistance in student voices
3. Assisting in everyday organizational needs and participating in various Blank Noise interventions through the duration of the internship
Blank Noise is a community of Action Sheroes, Theyroes, and Heroes', individuals and citizens united to eradicate gender-based and sexual violence. Over 17 years, Blank Noise has grown from an idea to a movement, with thousands of members across cities, towns, and countries. They are from across age groups, gender, and sexuality. Blank Noise ignites the idea that every individual has the potential to create change, build safe environments, and eradicate sexual violence.
Blank Noise and its community have been instrumental in building public discourse on sexual violence through a range of interventions across media (video, audio, live-action, performance, posters). The collective creates a safe space for survivors to be heard. All of the Blank Noise is built on the lived experiences and insights of its community.
