Chitrika is a social enterprise engaged in incubating craft enterprises. It was started in 2005 to promote self-managed and sustainable craft enterprises through its direct outreach work. Through its indirect outreach, Chitrika consults with organizations across India on crafts and collectives. In the next 5 years, Chitrika aims to reposition artisan at the core of the value-chain through collectives, technology, techno-managerial skills and making craft/handlooms, which can be owned by common people. Chitrika's primary focus has been weavers in the last many years. Currently, Chitrika works with two producer companies in Srikakulam and East Godavari engaging intensively with 300 weavers.
