Merchandise Design Internship

Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:

1. Meeting clients or colleagues to discuss the design brief
2. Working closely with NGOs, model makers, sales/marketing staff, and other skilled people
3. Understanding technology, production methods, and materials (such as textiles, metals, and wood)
4. Working within budgets and as per deadlines
5. Researching similar products and developing ideas
6. Making sketches of ideas by hand or computer, and developing the most effective ideas into detailed-drawings using specialist computer software
7. Ordering samples or working models of designs
8. Producing reports and presenting their ideas to colleagues and clients at various stages of the design process
9. Modifying their ideas according to the feedback they receive at these sessions
10. Overseeing the testing of the chosen design
11. Making presentations to potential clients in order to win new contracts
