We think this is a really exciting opportunity for any budding social scientist who wants experience working for an established, effective NGO.
Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include:
1. Assisting the senior researchers as we conduct the charity's first comprehensive, multidimensional poverty study across all the slums in which we work
2. Planning systematic sampling of each slum area
3. Carrying out interviews with households
4. Problem-solving regarding logistics and survey adjustments (especially if a candidate starts early and will be involved with collecting pilot data)
All of the above will be carried out with the supervision/guidance of senior researchers.
Only those candidates can apply who:
1. are available for full time (in-office) internship
2. can start the internship between 22nd Apr'19 and 22nd May'19
3. are available for duration of 3 months
4. are from or open to relocate to Kolkata
5. have relevant skills and interests

1. Should be fluent in Bengali & English
2. Should be enthusiastic and committed to Calcutta Rescue's vision
3. Knowledge of social science research methods (practical experience is a bonus)
4. Should be willing to work for the alleviation of poverty
5. Should be resilient in tough conditions (working in slums for much of the time is hard work!)
If candidates are working for a long period, they are welcome to discuss time off with us. We do not expect interns to work for 3 months without a break!
