About The Ashoka Tree

The Ashoka Tree is an NGO that works with un-aided playschools and special schools, with the ultimate aim to ensure that every child has a book to read and a toy to play with. Currently working with 1500 + playschools in South India, all hands are (quite literally) on deck. We have story-telling and dance workshops, dental camps, health camps, and more with children here. Our work also involves ensuring every school has basic infrastructure and facilities from bathrooms to running water to lights and fans. Our partners include other NGOs and corporates like Philips India who have worked with us on donation drives in north Kerala. The Ashoka Tree also gives marginalized women the opportunity to earn an income, making up-cycled lifestyle products - the proceeds from the sales of which go directly to them.
