Selected intern's day-to-day responsibilities include engaging in the development of an online or offline tool in any language preferably PHP (Perl/Python/Ruby/Java are also okay).
Part 1: Convert PDF files to Excel/CSV. There are several tools available for the same online. However, the tricky part is when the extracted data is not homogenous.
Part 2: Extract data from the Excel/CSV and populate a predetermined excel table which we can then easily uploaded into a MySQL DB.
The files to be processed are sales invoices with multiple line items and getting the table which has multiple line items is the easy part. It is extracting the common data such as company name, GST number of the buyer, seller, invoice number, date of invoice, etc. from the top part of the excel is the part where regex/pattern matching will have to be done.
