1. Analyzing the screenplay, characters, and story structure and deciding on a visual approach with the director
2. Conducting research regarding available locations, props, sun position, and weather conditions at the prospective film sites
3. Visiting locations and taking a series of test shots before deciding on the angles, filters, picture profiles, framing, equipment, lighting, and techniques that will be used to create the desired atmosphere of the film
4. Approving costumes, make-up, hair, and the color and textures used on set
5. Working with the post-production team to ensure the desired effects are preserved and the film's mood is maintained
6. Keeping up-to-date with advances in the film industry and attending workshops and training sessions wherever possible
7. Meeting with the director to discuss the visual style and storyboarding shots
8. Work with the script supervisor and locations manager to plan each scene and scope out the most effective camera angles
9. Choosing the appropriate lenses, cameras, and lighting for the project
10. Coordinating with the art director to create set designs and props that support the visual look of the film
11. Working with the camera and light crews during production to capture the desired footage and adjust the color and exposure as needed
12. Collaborating with the sound designer to ensure that the sound and visuals work together and attending rehearsals with the actors
13. Reviewing footage during post-production and making any necessary edits
14. Working with the post-production team to create design effects and to understand the framing of each shot
Requirements:
1. Bachelor s/diploma degree in film, production, or a similar discipline
2. An associate s degree is also acceptable
3. Experience shooting commercials and corporate videos
4. Extensive experience working in the film industry
5. Stamina and physical strength
6. The ability to work long hours and spend time away from home
7. A passion for film, a good eye for detail, and excellent hand-eye coordination
