R&D Engineer in our team is required to work on the development of laser-based spectroscopic technologies to detect hazardous materials. Responsible for designing and testing innovative optical systems that use laser spectroscopy and other related techniques, to detect and identify hazardous materials. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Physics, optical engineering or spectroscopy along with some basic skills of software and instrumentation development capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
a. System Design and Development:
1. Design, develop, and prototype laser-based spectroscopic systems for the detection of hazardous materials/threats, ensuring performance, accuracy, and reliability.
b. Testing and Calibration:
1. Lead testing and calibration of developed systems to meet performance standards, ensure precision, and enhance the detection of hazardous threats.
c. Prototype Development:
1. Develop prototypes of laser-based spectroscopic systems for field trials and customer evaluations.
d. Documentation and Reporting:
1. Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design reports, experimental results, and project progress, ensuring that all research and testing are well-documented.
e. Customer Feedback Integration:
1. Participate in evaluating customer feedback and adapting the system designs for improved real-world application and system robustness.
f. Regulatory Compliance:
1. Ensure all systems meet necessary regulatory standards for safety, performance, and accuracy.
Qualifications: Master's degree or higher in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Experience:
1. Hands-on experience with laser-based spectroscopy (Desirable)
2. Experience in designing and testing complex systems and prototypes, particularly in a laboratory or field testing environment.
3. Knowledge of Low-level signal measurement using Pre-amplifiers, lock-in amplifiers, and optical systems.
Skills and Knowledge:
1. Strong understanding of optical systems, laser-based spectroscopic techniques, and their application
2. Proficient in optical system design, including optical components, detectors, lasers, and spectrometers.
3. In-depth knowledge on optical system design, instrumentation & their functions, system integration, research on new innovative ideas, and implementation.
4. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
5. Familiarity with regulatory standards for safety and performance in detection systems.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
