About the job
We are looking for an analytical, results-driven hardware and firmware engineer who can create complex PCB layouts while using the least space possible. Hardware debugging knowledge and soldering skills are essential for this role.

Key responsibilities:

1. Write efficient, modular, and robust firmware which will interface with multiple components like MEMS sensors, battery chargers, secondary microcontrollers, etc.
2. Work on being deeply involved in the schematic design for a product which includes a cost-benefit analysis of components, component evaluation by designing a proof of concept, suggestions on how the components should be connected, etc.
3. Create cost and space-optimized layouts for 2/4-layer PCBs
4. Work on collaborating with firmware engineers and supply chain personnel on deciding the components to be used on a PCB
5. Collaborate with firmware engineers in designing PCB schematics
6. Work on debugging faulty PCBs using on a hardware level and collaborate with firmware engineers to debug on a firmware level
7. Work on understanding the manufacturing rules of PCB manufacturers and PCB assembly houses

Who can apply:

1. Ability to transform research articles into working solutions to solve real-world problems
2. Should have a strong foundation in analog and digital electronics
3. Should have designed 4-layer PCBs which have been manufactured
4. Familiar with using KiCAD or Altium Designer
5. Familiar with using components like MOSFETs, diodes, voltage regulators, etc.
6. Experience in designing PCBs involving BGA fanouts
7. Proficient in using soldering equipment like soldering irons and hot air gun
8. Should have worked with an ARM Cortex M series device like STM32, nRF52, etc.
9. Familiar with basic data structures like linked lists, queues, trees, etc.
10. Should be able to compile and link source code with static libraries without using an IDE
11. Basic knowledge of microcontroller peripherals like UART, I2C, SPI, ADC, etc.

Preferred skills (not mandatory)

1. Experience in antenna design
2. Worked with communications protocols like BLE/WIFI
3. Worked with equipment like logic analyzers, oscilloscopes etc
4. Experience in handling 3d printers
5. Familiar with Python
6. Worked with equipment like logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.
7. Worked on microcontrollers from dialog semiconductors, nordic semiconductors
