About the job
Key responsibilities:
1. Build, test, and maintain body and face rigs, skinning, and secondary motion setups for a variety of 3D assets
2. Use the proprietary system to create and export constraints, custom deformers, secondary motion, etc to the game engine
3. Work with other technical artists to improve workflows and tools used internally by the rigging team and potentially other departments such as character art and animation
Skills & Requirements:
1. A relevant degree or professional experience in the game industry as a character rigger, technical animator, or similar/related position
2. A demo reel and online portfolio that demonstrates exceptional skills in creating motion controls for animation, complex deformation, and skinning of the body and face of characters and creatures
3. Expert knowledge of Maya and Blender
4. Strong understanding of a broad mix of character-related disciplines such as modeling, texturing, shading, rigging and binding, animation, facial animation, and blend shapes
5. Knowledge of 3D effects such as particles, fluids, collision dynamics, and compositing is an added advantage
6. Strong interest in the gaming industry
7. Educational background in animation and rigging preferred
8. Should be able to learn new technologies and be open to development
9. 1 year of experience creating complex rigs for Games and VFX
10. Understanding of the human body and facial anatomy as it relates to game assets and topology
11. Understanding of IK, FK, and controllers for complete and useable rigging
12. Strong coding/scripting skills in Python, Mel, or Maxscript (candidate may be asked to complete a test)
13. Understanding of using DCC packages for creating games and art
14. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think outside the box
15. Strong communication, self-management, and organizational skills
16. Effective time management skills to meet deadlines and milestones
