📌 About the Program
The 2027 Imagine Cup Competition is Microsoft’s premier global student startup and technological innovation competition. It empowers student founders to transform ambitious technical ideas into viable enterprise solutions using Microsoft’s AI technologies and cloud infrastructure.
Teams can participate through two dedicated competition tracks based on venture maturity:
- Launch Track: Designed for early-stage student teams building prototypes or validating Minimum Viable Products (MVPs).
- Scale Track: Designed for established student startups with existing traction, active users, or market validation.

- Registration Opens: Late 2026 / Early Cycle Setup
- Registration & Submission Deadline: January 8, 2027
- Regional Semifinals & Builder Series: Spring 2027
- World Championship: May 2027
👥 Eligibility & Team Requirements
- Age Requirement: Participants must be at least 18 years old.
- Student Status: Enrolled in an accredited educational institution granting high school or higher education degrees.
- Team Size: Up to 4 students per team (all team members must individually create an account and register).
- Funding Limits:
- Launch Track: Maximum $100,000 USD in non-dilutive external funding; zero dilutive funding.
- Scale Track: Up to $5,000,000 USD in total external dilutive/non-dilutive funding.

Participants can align their AI-driven solutions with one of five core impact categories (or tackle a distinct self-defined organizational challenge):
- Cybersecurity: Threat prevention, identity protection, Zero Trust architectures, and AI-driven defense.
- Education: Personalized learning tools, educational accessibility, and adaptive AI classroom agents.
- Financial Services: Algorithmic banking systems, fraud detection, risk models, and cloud-based financial health solutions.
- Healthcare & Life Sciences: Diagnostic AI tools, medical data analytics, and operational clinical efficiency.
- Retail & Consumer Goods: Personalized customer journeys, supply chain optimizations, and intelligent commerce tools.
