Are hackathons on Internshala free to join?

Most hackathons listed on Internshala are free to enter, though a few (especially those with on-campus stays or premium tracks) may charge a nominal registration fee. Each listing clearly marks whether it's "Free" or "Paid" so you know before you register.

Can I participate in a hackathon alone, or do I need a team?

It depends on the hackathon. Many allow solo participation, while others require you to register as part of a team (usually 2–5 members). Team size and solo eligibility are specified on each hackathon's page, so check the rules before signing up. If you need teammates, some hackathons also offer team-formation support after registration.

How do I find beginner hackathons?

Look for listings that mention "beginner-friendly" in the description, or hackathons that combine learning modules (like short workshops or mentorship sessions) with the actual building phase. Many hackathons on the page explicitly welcome first-timers alongside experienced coders, so checking the eligibility and "about" section of each listing will tell you if prior experience is expected.

Which platform is best for hackathons?

The right platform depends on what you're looking for: variety of hackathons, ease of finding beginner-friendly events, or opportunities tied to internships and jobs. Internshala's hackathons page brings together listings from colleges, companies, and communities across India in one place, with clear details on eligibility, prizes, and format (online, offline, or hybrid), so you can compare options and pick what fits your skill level and goals.

Do companies hire from hackathons?

Yes, several hackathons are run specifically as hiring or talent-scouting initiatives, where top performers get direct interview opportunities, internships, or even pre-placement offers (PPOs) from the organizing company. This isn't true for every hackathon, so it's worth checking the "rewards" or "about" section of a listing to see if hiring opportunities are part of the prize structure.

Where can I find upcoming hackathons?

All upcoming hackathons are listed on Internshala's hackathons page, along with their registration deadlines and event dates. New hackathons are added regularly, so checking back often or sorting by the nearest deadline is the best way to catch ones you're eligible for before registration closes.

Do hackathons allow AI?

It varies by hackathon. Many now actively encourage AI-based projects and even have dedicated AI/ML or Generative AI tracks, while others restrict the use of AI tools during the actual build phase to ensure originality. Rules around AI usage (for coding, design, or ideation) are set individually by each organizer, so it's best to check the specific hackathon's guidelines before you start building.

How often are new hackathons added to this page?

New hackathons are added on an ongoing basis as colleges, companies, and communities announce them, so the page reflects current, open opportunities rather than a fixed list.
