📌About the Event
Avinya’27 – Energy Startup Challenge is a national-level innovation competition aimed at promoting Indian startups developing solutions for the energy sector. The challenge encourages entrepreneurs, researchers, innovators, and student entrepreneurs to create scalable technologies across renewable energy, alternative fuels, hydrocarbons, low-carbon technologies, AI/ML, energy storage and related areas. Selected startups will get the opportunity to pitch their solutions and gain exposure at India Energy Week 2027 (IEW’27).

- Level: National
- Mode: Hybrid — applications are submitted online, while shortlisted startups progress to a pitch round and winners are felicitated at India Energy Week 2027.
- Application platforms: MyGov Innovate India – Avinya’27 official page or the Startup India platform; applicants should use only one platform.
- Focus areas: Hydrocarbons & coal gasification, alternative fuels, green hydrogen/ammonia, CCUS, e-mobility, batteries & energy storage, renewable energy, AI/ML, Industry 4.0, energy efficiency and sustainable financing.
- Competition format: Two rounds — initial screening followed by a business-case pitch for the Top 10 startups

🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Eligibilty:
- Open to citizens of India.
- Eligible startups can be at the Ideation or Early Stage, including bootstrapped, pre-seed and Series A/B/C stages.
- Startup must be DPIIT-recognized under Startup India.
- Startup must be no more than 10 years old as of 1 January 2027.
- Annual turnover must be below ₹100 crore.
- Proposed solution must address one of the identified energy-sector themes.
- Businesses created by splitting or reconstructing an existing business are not considered eligible startups.
- Even a solution at the concept-note stage can apply.
- Each participant may submit only one entry and should apply through only one application platform.
- Late or incomplete submissions may be disqualified.

- 1st Prize: ₹3 lakh
- 2nd Prize: ₹2 lakh
- 3rd Prize: ₹1 lakh
- Top 5: Air travel and accommodation support for participation in India Energy Week. Felicitation at India Energy Week 2027 and designated exhibition space to showcase their innovations. Potential access to incubation workspace, labs, testing/prototyping infrastructure and fast-tracked procurement pathways. Investor introductions, mentorship and networking with energy-industry experts.
