📌 About the Event
The Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship (SVMCM) is a scholarship scheme of the Government of West Bengal that provides financial assistance to meritorious students from economically weaker families pursuing higher education. The scheme covers eligible students from Higher Secondary to undergraduate, postgraduate, engineering, medical, technical, professional and research programmes .The scheme provides tuition fee assistance based on institutional rankings and eligibility criteria from the 2026–27 academic session.

📅 Important Dates
The Swami Vivekananda Merit Scholarship Scheme (SVMS) was officially launched on 5 September 2026. The online application window for the 2026–27 academic session will be opened soon through the official SVMS portal.
🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Applicants must be permanent residents of West Bengal.
- Students must meet the prescribed academic requirements for their respective course and level.
- Higher Secondary and eligible UG applicants generally require at least 60% marks in the qualifying examination.
- PG applicants generally require 53% marks in the relevant Honours subject, while eligible engineering/technology/pharmacy PG applicants require 55%.
- Applicants must be studying in eligible regular courses at institutions covered by the scheme.
- Students receiving another government scholarship or stipend for the same course or stage are generally not eligible.
- Applicants must keep the required documents ready, including academic records, admission proof, income certificate, domicile proof and bank details.
🏆 Benefits for the Participants
- Monthly scholarship support ranging from ₹1,000 to ₹8,000.
- UG Science and eligible professional courses can receive ₹1,500 per month.
- PG Science and eligible professional courses can receive ₹2,500 per month.
- Engineering and eligible medical degree courses can receive ₹5,000 per month.
- Non-NET M.Phil. scholars can receive ₹5,000 per month.
- Non-NET Ph.D. scholars can receive ₹8,000 per month.
