GirlScript Summer of Code2026
GirlScript Foundation
📌About the Challenge
GirlScript Summer of Code (GSSoC) 2026 is currently underway as India’s largest non-profit open-source and AI builder program. Organized by the GirlScript Foundation, this annual initiative has expanded into a global developer ecosystem. It is specifically designed to guide students, software engineers, and AI creators through real world software delivery pipelines rather than isolated classroom assignments.
Instead of tracking basic documentation edits or minor code tweaks, GSSoC 2026 enforces a strict “Real-World Building” framework. The program prioritizes structural project health, tool deployment, and actual product delivery over sheer transaction volume on version control platforms.
📅 Active Program Timeline

🛠️ The 2026 Double-Track Architecture
For the 2026 cohort, GSSoC splits into two distinct, high-impact specialization tracks:
Track 1: The New “Agents for India” Track (Powered by Smartly Labs)
- Technical Objective: Shift beyond conversational chatbots to design, test, and ship autonomous, real-world AI Agents tailored to solve infrastructural, commercial, or logistical bottlenecks unique to India.
- Core Stack Exposure: Master agentic automation workflows, tool-use execution loops, and autonomous decision-making engines.
- Ecosystem Benefit: Top-performing builders gain direct placement pipelines, sandbox environments, and engineering exposure within the Smartly Labs enterprise node.
Track 2: The Classic Open Source Track
- Technical Objective: Contribute to major open-source code repositories, clean production bugs, scale software feature frameworks, and execute multi-developer collaboration profiles.
- Core Stack Exposure: Advanced git orchestration, professional peer review pipelines, code safety verification, and direct profile index optimization across your public GitHub profile.
