AICTE Pragati Scholarship Scheme for Girl Students – Technical Degree is a government scholarship by AICTE to support girl students pursuing technical degree courses in AICTE-approved institutions.   • Scheme type: Merit-based scholarship for girl students pursuing technical degree education.
  • Mode of application: Online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
  • Verification process: Applications are verified first by the host institution, followed by verification by the Department of Technical Education (DTE) of the respective State/UT.
  • Mode of payment: Scholarship amount is paid through DBT mode on an annual basis after selection.
  • Number of scholarships: 5,000 scholarships per year are earmarked for technical degree students, with state/UT-wise distribution.

🎯 Eligibility & Rules

  • Eligibility: Applicant must be a girl student admitted to the first year of a degree-level technical course or the second year through lateral entry in an AICTE-approved institution.
  • Family criteria: Maximum two girl children per family are eligible.
  • Income limit: Family income from all sources should not exceed ₹8 lakh per annum, and a valid income certificate is required.
  • Course criteria: The scholarship is for technical degree courses; students in non-technical courses, non-AICTE-approved courses/institutions, dual degree courses, or postgraduate courses may be rejected.
  • Gap rule: The gap between passing the qualifying exam and admission to the degree course should not be more than 2 years.
  • Selection process: Selection is based on merit in the qualifying examination, mainly marks obtained in Class 12/equivalent for entry into the technical degree course.
  • Tie-breaking: If there is a tie, higher Class 10 marks are considered first; if still tied, the older candidate is ranked higher.
  • Renewal rule: Scholarship can be renewed through NSP by submitting the required promotion/passing documents; students who fail or drop out are not eligible for further scholarship.

🏆 Prize Details and Value

  • Scholarship amount: ₹50,000 per annum for every year of study.
  • Duration: Up to 4 years for students admitted in the first year of a degree course, and up to 3 years for second-year lateral entry students.
  • Usage: Amount can be used for college fee, computer/laptop purchase, stationery, books, equipment, software, etc.
  • No extra grant: No additional support is provided for hostel charges or medical charges.
  • Payment mode: The scholarship is released directly through DBT after selection.
