📌About the Event
The Infrastructure as a System: Rethink the Future Competition 2026 is an international student challenge organised by the InfraVision ThinkTank. Participants must develop a fictional infrastructure project capable of remaining resilient, adaptable and sustainable amid climate pressures, technological disruption, regulatory changes and uncertain future demand. Projects may focus on areas such as transport, energy, telecommunications, hospitals, data centres, airports, ports, logistics hubs or urban infrastructure.

- Edition: Second international edition
- Mode of conduct: Online registration and digital project submission
- Theme: Designing infrastructure that remains relevant, resilient and valuable across multiple possible futures
- Participants will act as a strategic task force developing a fictional infrastructure project expected to become operational around 2030–2035.
- Projects should address climate change, technological disruption, changing regulations, resource limitations and evolving social demand.
- Participants may propose projects involving bridges, rail stations, ports, airports, hospitals, data centres, parking facilities, heating networks, highways or urban logistics hubs.
- Results will be announced during Paris InfraWeek 2026.

- Competition opened: May 15, 2026
- Registration or expression of interest deadline: June 30, 2026, according to the main competition page
- Final submission deadline: July 31, 2026, at 11:59 PM Paris time
- Jury review period: Approximately July 30 to September 8, 2026
- Results announcement: November 3, 2026, during Paris InfraWeek 2026
🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Eligibility:
- The competition is open to students from all nationalities and academic institutions.
- Eligible participants include:
- Students enrolled at the time of submission
- Undergraduate and postgraduate students
- PhD candidates
- Students who graduated during 2025
- Participants must be at least 18 years old or have consent from a parent or legal guardian.
- Entries may be submitted individually or in teams of one to six members.
- Students from architecture, engineering, urban planning, economics, computer science, public policy, complex systems and other disciplines may participate.
- Multidisciplinary teams are encouraged but are not mandatory.
- Each individual or team may submit only one project.
