The Hangover Part AI

📌 About the Event
The Hangover Part AI: Where’s My Context? is a high-stakes, open-source developer hackathon organized by WeMakeDevs in official sponsorship with Cognee.
The hackathon directly tackles “AI Amnesia” the structural stateless limitation of standard Large Language Models (LLMs) that causes agents to forget user preferences, spill out of context windows, and reset every session from scratch. Developers are challenged to build apps, agents, or automations utilizing Cognee’s self-hosted, hybrid graph-vector memory layer to create architectures that retain context across infinite operational sessions.
📅 Critical Timelines & Logistics
- Hackathon Window: June 29, 2026 – July 5, 2026
- Event Modality: 100% Virtual / Global Digital Build Sprint.
- Team Parameters: Solo participants or teams up to a maximum of 4 members.
- Target Demographic: Open globally to AI engineers, full-stack developers, open-source contributors, and product builders.
🕹️ The Tech Stack & Core Memory Lifecycle
Participants will use Cognee’s open-source local framework or Cognee Cloud (using free developer tier credits via access code COGNEE-35) to manipulate data through its structural memory API:
remember(): Ingests raw text, files, and URLs to map them into a structured knowledge graph.recall(): Automatically routes search queries using semantic vectors and deep graph traversals.improve()/memify: Runs post-ingestion data enrichment and alters node weights based on user context.forget(): Surgically prunes or deletes specific nodes/datasets when no longer needed.
🔌 Integrations Allowed:
Developers can build natively or hook Cognee memory straight into production-ready platforms such as Claude Code, Codex, n8n (for zero-backend visual automation loops), and OpenClaw.
Core Incentives, Bounties & Career Loops
The hackathon features a massive $10,000 unified prize pool split across structural tracks where every single member of a winning team receives the full prize:
Main Track Grand Prizes (Full Hardware or Cash Equivalent)
- Best Use of Open Source Track: An Apple MacBook Neo for each team member (awarded for the best build on open-source Cognee).
- Best Use of Cognee Cloud Track: An Apple iPhone 17 for each team member (awarded for the best build on Cognee Cloud).
- 💼 Job Interview Pipeline: Top winners get direct technical interview slots with the core Cognee engineering team.
Open Source GitHub Contribution Track (Active Now)
You do not need to wait for the hackathon to start to claim this track. Developers can earn $100 per Pull Request (PR) for fixing verified issues on Cognee’s repository:
- Limited to the top 20 accepted submissions overall.
- Strict cap of 5 PRs maximum per individual to prevent AI-generated spam.
