MSME Idea Hackathon 6.0
Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises
📌 About the Event
The MSME Idea Hackathon 6.0 is a premier national innovation challenge launched by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MoMSME), Government of India. Aligned with the national vision of “Viksit Bharat @2047”, this flagship edition is themed around “Frontier Technology in MSMEs” and opens its doors globally to all inventive Indian citizens above 18 years of age.
The program aims to bridge the gap between abstract creative concepts and market-ready products by transforming breakthrough ideas into scalable, commercialized ventures. It provides early-stage innovators with a robust support infrastructure comprising financial capital, specialized incubation facilities, and strategic industry mentorship.

🎙️ Core Technical Pillars & Focus Themes
The hackathon operates under One Pillar: Six Themes, focusing heavily on implementing cutting-edge, low-cost, and easily adoptable frontier technologies into India’s production landscape:
1. Renewable Energy
- Scope: Solar, wind, biomass, green hydrogen, decentralized clean-energy machinery, hybrid systems, and battery thermal management (including second-life batteries).
- Target builds: Solar dryers, decentralized agricultural cold-storage units, and indigenous clean-tech components.
2. Energy Efficiency
- Scope: Affordable retrofitting tools to cut operational overheads and reduce process losses in legacy MSME manufacturing units.
- Target builds: Machine-level energy monitoring units, compressed-air leak detectors, waste-heat recovery systems, and optimized boilers/furnaces.
3. Automotive Technology
- Scope: Indigenous components for the electric vehicle (EV) sector, micro-mobility, and alternative-fuel ecosystems.
- Target builds: Battery/thermal management software, charging/swapping infrastructures, connected-vehicle embedded sensors, and component remanufacturing tools.
4. Industry 4.0 and 5.0
- Scope: Bringing smart, connected, and human-centric computing to standard factory floors without requiring full infrastructure replacement.
- Target builds: Low-cost IoT sensors, industrial Digital Twins, machine vision inspection arrays, and predictive-maintenance models.
5. Robotics and Automation
- Scope: Adaptable, easily programmed, modular automated hardware suited for small-batch, high-variety, or labor-intensive workshop setups.
- Target builds: Multi-purpose pick-and-place arms, adaptive grippers, computer-vision quality inspection lines, and conventional machine retrofit kits.
6. Other Frontier Technologies
- Scope: Emerging deep-tech domains critical for national security, infrastructure modernization, import substitution, and export market growth.
- Target builds: Advanced materials/coatings, drone payloads/control systems, aerospace/satellite applications, dual-use defense tech, and portable medical diagnostic equipment.
📥 Incubation Perks & Financial Capital Injection
Approved projects transition directly into an accelerated deployment pipeline backed by central resources:
- Prototyping Seed Funding: Financial assistance of up to a maximum of ₹15 Lakhs per approved idea, disbursed through verified host institutions.
- Infrastructure Backing: Selected founders get assigned to an approved Host Institute (HI) acting as a dedicated business incubator, granting immediate access to technical testing labs, fabrication machinery, and expert academic mentorship.
