📌About the Event
TERI GREEN Olympiad 2026–27 is a national-level environmental examination designed to improve students’ understanding of sustainability, climate change, biodiversity, natural resources, green skills and responsible lifestyles. Started in 1999 by The Energy and Resources Institute, the school-based Olympiad combines environmental education with analytical and application-oriented questions. It is open to students from Classes 4 to 12 studying in schools affiliated with recognised educational boards or trusts.

- Competition type: Environment and sustainability Olympiad
- Mode of examination: Offline, paper-based examination
- Exam centre: Students will appear for the examination at their respective schools.
- Question format: 50 multiple-choice questions answered using an OMR sheet
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Registration mode: School-based registration only; schools may register online or submit the prescribed offline registration form.
- Minimum participation: At least 20 students must register from each school across all levels.
- Available languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Kannada, Marathi, Odia and Tamil
- Main theme: Environment and Sustainable Development
- Key topics: Ecology, biodiversity, climate science, renewable energy, natural resources, conservation, Sustainable Development Goals, green skills, circular economy, environmental laws, national missions, behavioural change and value education.

🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Eligibility :
- Institution requirement: Students must be enrolled in a school affiliated with a recognised educational board or educational trust.
- Registration requirement: Individual student registration is not permitted. Students must register through their school.
- Ineligible institutions: Private coaching institutes and similar organisations cannot register students.
- International participation: Students residing outside India may also participate, provided they meet the eligibility requirements.
- Level 1: Students of Classes 4 and 5
- Level 2: Students of Classes 6, 7 and 8
- Level 3: Students of Classes 9 and 10
- Level 4: Students of Classes 11 and 12
- Number of entries: Schools may nominate any number of students at each level, subject to the minimum requirement of 20 participants per school.
- Examination format: Written, offline and MCQ-based, with printed question papers and OMR answer sheets supplied to schools.
- Evaluation areas: Questions assess students’ environmental knowledge, ability to apply concepts and analytical thinking.
🏆 Benefits for the Participants
- Cash prizes: Awards worth up to ₹10 lakh will be distributed among winners across different categories.
- Student certificates: Participants will receive Certificates of Participation, Merit or Distinction depending on their performance.
- School topper medals: The highest-performing student at each level within a school will receive a GREEN Olympiad medal.
- Teacher recognition: Coordinating teachers will receive certificates.
- Principal recognition: School principals will receive certificates of appreciation.
- School award: Registered schools may apply for the Sustainability Excellence Award without paying an additional application fee.
- Sustainability Excellence Award submission: Interested schools must submit a presentation of up to 10 slides highlighting their sustainability initiatives.
