📌About the Event
The India Innovation Challenge 2026 is a nationwide innovation competition organised by the University of Sydney for senior secondary school students in India. With the theme “Reimagining Health: Healthy Lives, Thriving Communities,” the challenge encourages students to develop original and practical solutions supporting United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3—Good Health and Well-being. Participants can address issues related to physical health, mental well-being, healthcare accessibility, health education, technology-enabled healthcare and safer communities.

- Mode of conduct: Online
- Geographical coverage: Open to eligible students studying in India
- Team size: One to three students
- Mentor requirement: Each team must have a teacher mentor from the same school.
- Submission format: A four-to-five-minute video explaining the team’s proposed solution
- Submission platform: The video must be uploaded publicly on YouTube, and its link must be submitted through the official application form.
- Award ceremony: The results will be announced through a virtual award ceremony.
- Challenge objective: Participants must design an original idea, product or programme that improves health and well-being.
- Expected qualities: Solutions should be inclusive, innovative, practical and capable of creating measurable social impact.

- Applications opened: July 1, 2026
- First online briefing session: July 11, 2026, at 4:30 PM IST
- Second online briefing session: August 8, 2026, at 4:30 PM IST
- Online question-and-answer session: August 23, 2026, at 4:30 PM IST
- Project submission deadline: September 6, 2026, at 11:59 PM IST
- Evaluation begins: September 7, 2026 onwards
🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Who can participate:
- Students must be studying in Grade 11 or Grade 12.
- Students must be enrolled in an English-medium school in India.
- Teams can include one, two or three students.
- All team members must belong to the same school.
- Every team must include a teacher mentor from the participating school.
- Each team can submit only one project entry.
- Participants must form a team of one to three eligible students.
- Teams are encouraged to register for and attend the online briefing sessions.
- The proposed solution must address health and well-being challenges connected with SDG 3.
- All application information and project submissions must be in English.
- Teams must create a video of approximately four to five minutes explaining their innovation.
- The video must not exceed five minutes.
- Entries with videos longer than five minutes will be disqualified.
- The video must be uploaded on YouTube as an openly accessible video.
🏆 Benefits for the Participants
- First prize: An Apple iPad or a similar device for every student team member and the teacher mentor
- Second prize: A Samsung or OnePlus tablet for every student team member and the teacher mentor
- Third prize: A smartwatch for every student team member and the teacher mentor
- Winning teams will be recognised during the virtual award ceremony.
- Winning projects will be featured on the University of Sydney website.
