📌 About the Program
The WMO 2027 Calendar Photography Competition is an annual global contest organized by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), a specialized agency of the United Nations.
Under the theme “Your Weather, Your World,” the competition invites photographers worldwide to capture the power, beauty, and impact of weather, climate, and water on daily life and the environment.

👥 Eligibility & Participation Rules
- Open To: Everyone worldwide (individuals or groups of any age).
- Restrictions: Employees of the WMO Secretariat are ineligible. Entrants under 18 require parental/guardian permission.
- Entry Limit: Up to 3 photos per photographer (only 1 winning photo per entrant can be selected).
- Entry Fee: Free (No monetary fee, and no financial reward for winners).
📷 Technical Submission Guidelines
Image Standards
- Format: JPEG or TIFF (high resolution with minimal compression).
- Minimum Resolution: 4000 × 3000 pixels.
- Orientation: Strictly Landscape (horizontal) format.
- Color Scheme: Both color and black-and-white photographs are accepted.
- Editing Limits: Minor contrast, dodging, burning, sharpening, and color adjustments are allowed. Minimal cropping is permitted.
Strict Exclusions
- ❌ AI Prohibited: Entries generated or manipulated using Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be automatically disqualified.
- ❌ Prior Publication: Photos that have won other competitions or been published in official media/print are ineligible (personal social media/blog posts are allowed).
📝 How to Enter & Mandatory Details
- Capture an original, high-resolution photo fitting the “Your Weather, Your World” theme.
- Ensure you have detailed caption info ready: Title, Specific Location, and Date Taken.
- Email your original photo(s) along with the signed WMO entry form to
calendar@wmo.int. - Include your social media handles for proper attribution if shortlisted.

Judging Criteria
- Illustration of the Theme: Alignment with “Your Weather, Your World”.
- Technical Quality: Clarity, sharpness, exposure, and composition.
- Visual Impact & Originality: Novelty, flair, and emotional/artistic resonance.
Winner Benefits
- Calendar Publication: Final 13 winning photographs will be featured in the official printed WMO 2027 Calendar.
- UN-Wide Exposure: Featured on the WMO website, UN social media channels, outreach materials, and during World Meteorological Day 2027.
