📌About the Event
Avartan ’26 – Sustainability Ideathon is a student innovation competition organised by the Entrepreneurship Initiative (EII), IIT Gandhinagar. The event challenges students to tackle real-world, industry-relevant sustainability problems and develop innovative, practical, and scalable solutions. Shortlisted teams will advance from an online screening round to an overnight Grand Finale at the IIT Gandhinagar campus.

- Theme: Sustainability, innovation, entrepreneurship, and real-world problem-solving.
- Mode: Hybrid.
- Round 1 – Online Screening: Participants complete an online assessment involving sustainability and problem-solving questions along with a solution-based challenge.
- Round 2 – Grand Finale: Shortlisted teams participate in an overnight, on-campus ideathon at IIT Gandhinagar.

- Round 1 & Registration Deadline: September 18, 2026, 11:59 PM IST.
- Grand Finale Begins: September 26, 2026, 3:00 PM.
- Grand Finale Ends: September 27, 2026, 7:00 AM.
- Finale Venue: IIT Gandhinagar Campus, Gujarat.
🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Eligibilty:
- Open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from colleges and universities.
- Students from engineering, management, law, finance, arts, design, sciences, medical, and other disciplines can participate.
- Teams must consist of 2–4 students.
- Participants must have a valid student ID.
- Round 1 includes questions on sustainability, innovation, and problem-solving.
- Participants may be required to choose a sustainability-related problem statement and submit:
- Problem understanding.
- Proposed solution.
- Basic working/process of the solution.
- Expected impact and feasibility.
🏆 Benefits for the Participants
- Total Prize Pool: ₹1,00,000.
- Prize money will be distributed among winners across the problem statements.
- Winners are also listed as receiving certificates.
- Finalists get an opportunity to present their ideas at IIT Gandhinagar and interact with fellow innovators and the organising team.
