📌About the Event
BioMed Bharat 2026 – Biomedical Device Innovation Hackathon is a national-level biomedical innovation hackathon by GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (GIMSR), GITAM (Deemed to be University). The event brings together students, researchers, engineers, clinicians, and innovators to build affordable and impactful biomedical device solutions for real-world healthcare challenges in India. The hackathon includes idea submission, expert mentorship, prototype development, and a grand finale at GITAM Visakhapatnam.

- Theme: Biomedical device innovation, MedTech, healthcare technology
- Mode of Conduct: Hybrid
- Initial stages such as workshops, mentoring, idea presentation, and evaluation are conducted online.
- Final prototype development and grand finale will be held offline at GITAM, Visakhapatnam.
- Objective: To promote affordable healthcare technology and biomedical device innovation for India-specific clinical challenges
- Problem Areas Include:
- Early childhood development and nutritional risk screening platform
- Clinical laboratory trend analysis and monitoring platform
- Portable app-based ENT endoscopy and teleconsultation system
- Key Support Offered: Expert mentorship, prototype development support, travel support, accommodation, and incubation opportunities

🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Eligibility:
- Open to UG, PG, and PhD students
- Participants must apply in teams of 3 members
- Suitable for students and researchers from engineering, medical sciences, biomedical engineering, healthcare, technology, and allied domains
- The hackathon also invites clinicians, engineers, researchers, and innovators from across India
- Team Rules:
- Each team must select a problem statement
- Teams must submit their details and a brief solution approach through the registration form
- Each team must nominate a team leader/contact person
- The project proposal must be original and not copied from existing sources
- Proposal must be submitted in PDF or Word format, as per organizer guidelines
🏆 Benefits for the Participants
- Total Prize Pool: ₹4.5 lakh, as announced by GIMSR on its official social post.
- First Prize: ₹1,00,000
- Runner-Up Prize: ₹50,000
- Travel Support: Up to ₹3,000 per participant for shortlisted final-round teams, subject to valid bills and documents
- Accommodation: Free accommodation at GITAM Visakhapatnam for shortlisted final-round participants, from 24 hours before the event to 24 hours after completion
