📌About the Event
The Unbox 2026 Architecture Competition is an international ideas challenge that invites participants to rethink how public spaces can respond to contemporary social, environmental and technological changes. Participants must propose a small yet impactful “micro-public space” that is inclusive, adaptable, multifunctional and environmentally responsible. Instead of creating a monumental structure, the competition encourages practical architectural interventions that strengthen community interaction and improve everyday public life.

- Competition type: International open-ideas architecture and design competition
- Design challenge: Create an innovative micro-public space that can respond to present-day civic and community needs.
- Maximum built-up area: 3,000 square feet or approximately 278 square metres
- Expected capacity: The proposed space should accommodate at least 250 users per day.
- Functional requirement: The design must support at least three distinct uses across daily or seasonal cycles.

- Current headstart registration deadline: July 17, 2026
- Early-bird registration period: July 11 to September 11, 2026, according to the organiser’s competition announcement
- Standard registration period: September 12 to November 6, 2026
- Final registration deadline: November 6, 2026
- Submission deadline: December 3, 2026, by 11:59 PM IST
🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Eligibility:
- The competition is open to participants from all countries.
- Architects, architecture students, engineers, product designers, artists, thinkers, companies, organisations and multidisciplinary teams may participate.
- No professional qualification or architecture degree is compulsory.
- Participants may enter individually or form a team of up to three members.
- Interdisciplinary teams are permitted.
- Multiple entries are allowed, but every entry must be registered and paid for separately.
- Indian students and professionals are eligible to participate.

- Total prize pool: USD 10,000
- First prize: USD 5,000, Certificate of Achievement and publication
- Second prize: USD 2,500, Certificate of Achievement and publication
