e-Yantra Robotics Competition 2026–27

📌About the Event
The e-Yantra Robotics Competition 2026–27, also known as eYRC 2026–27, is a national-level, project-based robotics competition hosted by IIT Bombay. Conducted over approximately six months, the competition enables students to learn robotics, embedded systems, simulation, programming and emerging technologies while solving gamified real-world engineering challenges. Participants do not need previous robotics experience, as the competition follows a “learning while competing” model and provides structured training, resources and mentorship.

- Competition duration: Approximately six months
- Mode of conduct: Hybrid
- Stage 1 and Stage 2 will be conducted online.
- The National Finale will be conducted offline at IIT Bombay, Mumbai.
- Participation format: Teams of 2–4 students
- Competition level: International; colleges outside India may also participate.
- Learning format: Project-Based Learning through robotics themes, online training, simulations and hardware-based tasks.
- Stage 1: Online MOOC-style learning and simulation tasks.
- Stage 2: Online hardware-based development using robotic kits or remote hardware facilities.
- National Finale: The leading 5–6 teams will demonstrate their robots before an expert jury at IIT Bombay.
- Technologies covered may include: ROS 2, embedded systems, computer vision, machine learning, image processing, control systems, FPGA programming, drones, path planning, navigation, GIS and remote sensing.

🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Who can participate:
- Undergraduate students from Engineering, Science and Polytechnic or Diploma colleges can participate.
- Students from any academic year or branch are eligible.
- Each student team must have 2–4 members.
- All members of a student team must belong to the same college or institute.
- Students from different departments, branches and academic years within the same college may form a team.
- Participants from colleges outside India are also eligible.
- No previous robotics experience is necessary.
- Participants should have basic programming knowledge and a willingness to learn.
- One participant may register with only one team and one email address.
- Team composition becomes final after registration.
- Members cannot be added, removed or replaced during the competition.
- Registration and payment automatically induct eligible teams into Stage 1; there is no preliminary selection test for the 2026–27 edition.
- During Task 0, teams may explore the available themes and submit preferences for any two themes.
- Teams must continue working on the selected two themes during Tasks 1 and 2.
- From Task 3 onwards, teams must choose one of those themes and continue with it for the remaining competition.
- Theme availability and final theme assignments remain at the discretion of e-Yantra.
🏆 Benefits for the Participants
- Total prize pool: ₹10,00,000
- The prize pool will be distributed among the top Grand Finale finalists.
- Three final placements are expected to be recognised.
- Teams reaching the finale will receive an opportunity to compete and demonstrate their robots at IIT Bombay.
- Participants may receive e-Yantra or IIT Bombay certificates for each stage completed satisfactorily.
- Top-performing individual participants may be shortlisted for a 6–8-week paid summer internship at IIT Bombay.
- Internship selection will be based on individual performance and a subsequent online or in-person interview.
- Participants may receive e-Yantra merchandise and competition goodies.
- Selected Stage 2 teams will receive robotic kits or remote hardware access without an additional kit fee; physical kits are returnable.
- Participants will develop practical skills and project portfolios that may support internship, placement and higher-education applications.
