The Global AgriInno Challenge 2026, organised by FAO with Zhejiang University and Pinduoduo, is an international innovation challenge for startups, agripreneurs, researchers, and innovation teams working on sustainable agrifood solutions. The 2026 edition focuses on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and looks for technology-driven solutions that improve resilient, inclusive, and climate-ready agrifood systems.

- Theme: Accelerating Innovation for Resilient Agrifood Systems in Small Island Developing States
- Focus Areas:
- Better Production: Solutions for limited arable land, fragmented supply chains, food import dependency, and climate pressure on agriculture and fisheries
- Better Nutrition: Affordable healthy diets, malnutrition, obesity, and diet-related health issues
- Better Environment: Climate change, biodiversity loss, coral reefs, coastal systems, and ecosystem protection
- Better Life: Rural development, youth unemployment, women’s participation, and inclusive livelihood opportunities
- Mode of Conduct:
- Online application submission through the FAO Science, Technology and Innovation Portal
- Remote coaching and preparation for selected finalists

🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be registered as a company or legal entity
- The organisation must have less than USD 1 million annual turnover
- The organisation must have less than 5 years of operations
- The solution must be technology-based and at Technology Readiness Level 7–9, meaning it should be at a post-MVP or advanced stage
- The team must have at least one team leader below 35 years of age
- The solution must directly address agrifood challenges in Small Island Developing States, or must already have been piloted/deployed in an island context
- Teams from outside SIDS can apply, but teams originating from or led by individuals from SIDS will receive preference
- Teams with female agripreneurs are strongly encouraged to apply
- Rules:
- Each applicant can submit only one application
- Only the final submitted version will be considered
- Selected teams must participate throughout the programme, including workshops, final pitch, and possible FAO showcase
- English and Chinese are working languages, but all proposals and presentations must be in English
