📌About the Event
The ICMR-SHINE National Level Competition 2026 is a nationwide student science and public-health competition organised by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) under S.H.I.N.E. – Science, Health and Innovation for NextGen Explorers. Students from Classes 9–12 are invited to identify a real-world public-health challenge, study its causes and existing evidence, and propose practical or innovative solutions. The 2026 competition theme is “Igniting Scientific Curiosity Among Youth for a Viksit Bharat 2047.”

- Mode of Competition: Online submission through the official ICMR-SHINE portal. Students do not upload entries individually; the designated school nodal officer submits them.
- Competition Focus: Public health, biomedical science, scientific thinking and problem-solving.
- Students must choose one relevant public-health challenge and propose evidence-based solutions.
- The competition is part of ICMR’s broader SHINE initiative, which was launched in 2025 to expose school students to biomedical research and scientific careers.

- Last Date for Nominations & Submission: 11 September 2026.

🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Eligibilty:
- Students studying in Classes 9 to 12.
- Students from government, government-aided/semi-government and private schools across India can participate.
- The school must register through a designated nodal officer, generally a principal or science teacher, using its 11-digit UDISE code.
- Only one nodal account per school is permitted.
- Each student must identify one public-health problem and develop a research question around it.
- The submission must cover:
- Background of the problem
- Problem identification
- Problem statement
- Up to three suggested solutions
- A simple pitch explaining the problem and proposed solutions.
- Submission Format: A 2-page PDF; illustrations, graphs, graphics and flowcharts may be included.
- The registration instructions additionally state that the PDF should include a 100-word self-introduction.
🏆 Benefits for the Participants
- Top 100 winners: ₹1,000 cash prize each.
- Total cash prizes: ₹1 lakh across the 100 winning entries.
- Each Top 100 winner will also receive an ICMR certificate.
- Every student who successfully submits an entry will receive a Certificate of Participation from ICMR.
