📌About the Event

Indian Streets Reimagined – Design Competition 2026 is a national-level design competition organised by GRIHA Council in collaboration with the Council of Architecture (COA), India. The competition invites professionals to redesign a street stretch anywhere in India as a more inclusive, people-centric and climate-responsive public space. Participants are encouraged to rethink how Indian streets can support mobility, everyday public life, local livelihoods and urban ecology while retaining the unique character of their chosen location.

ℹ️ Event Details

• Theme: Reimagining Indian streets as inclusive, sustainable and people-focused public spaces.
• Participants must select and reimagine a street stretch located anywhere in India.
• Designs should address aspects such as mobility, public life, local livelihoods, ecology and climate responsiveness.
• Proposals should respond to the local character, context and everyday needs of the selected street.
• Submission mode: Registration and design submission are conducted through the competition’s online registration process.

🎯 Eligibility & Rules

• Eligibilty:
• Open to professionals from architecture, urban design, planning, engineering and transport planning.
• Professionals from other related/allied disciplines can also participate.
• Participants must choose a street stretch anywhere in India for redesign.
• The proposal should move beyond vehicle-focused street planning and explore a more inclusive and people-centric approach.

🏆 Benefits for the Participants

• Winner: ₹1,00,000 cash prize.
• 1st Runner-Up: ₹25,000.
• 2nd Runner-Up: ₹25,000.
• Winners/selected participants will receive certificates.
• Selected designs will be exhibited at the 18th GRIHA Summit 2026.
