📌About the Event
Japan On Canvas 2026 is the 12th edition of the national painting competition conducted by Experience Japan for school students across India. Launched in 2013, the competition encourages students to explore Japanese culture, traditions, history, art and India–Japan relations through creative artwork. It combines cultural research with artistic expression and provides selected students with national-level recognition and exhibition opportunities.

🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Eligibility :
- The competition is open to students studying in Grades 4 to 12.
- Students must participate through a registered school, educational institution or organization.
- Schools and organizations from across India may register for the competition.
- Students must participate in the category corresponding to their current grade.
- Participation Rules :
- The school or participating organization must first register with Experience Japan.
- Schools should share the assigned theme with students and encourage them to research Japanese culture before beginning their artwork.
- Students must prepare their paintings on the school campus under the supervision of teachers.
- The artwork must be signed on the reverse side by the school’s art teacher and principal or authorized school representative.
- Schools must collect all completed paintings from participating students.
- The school must prepare a consolidated participant list and participation form.
- The applicable student participation fee must be collected by the school and submitted as one consolidated payment.
- Paintings, forms, participant details and payment documents must be sent to Experience Japan by courier or post.
- Schools should consult the official 2026 rulebook for artwork dimensions, permitted materials, packaging instructions and final dispatch requirements.
🏆 Benefits for the Participants
- A total of 225 awards will be presented across the competition.
- The top 33 artworks will be selected for exhibitions.
- Selected students will receive national-level recognition for their artistic work.
- Exhibition selection gives students an opportunity to showcase their artwork to a wider audience.
