The Meta VR Start Developer Competition 2026 is an international online development competition organized by Meta Platforms, Inc. It invites developers to create innovative virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) experiences for Meta VR devices, including Meta Quest and Meta VR Glasses.Participants can compete in three tracks: Entertainment, Gaming and Productivity. 🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Open to individuals aged 18 or older who meet the legal age of majority in their country.
- Participants must join the Meta VR Start Program and have an active Meta account with Developer Access enabled.
- Individual developers, teams and eligible organizations can participate.
- Projects must be developed for Meta VR devices and fit at least one of the three competition tracks.
- New projects must be created within the competition window; existing projects must include a significant new feature, mode or platform integration.
- Projects must be fully usable with hands, without requiring a controller.
- All submissions must meet the technical, originality, licensing and platform-policy requirements in the official rules.
🏆 Benefits for the Participants
- Total cash prize pool: $1,000,000.
- Top prizes: Up to $100,000 for eligible category winners.
- Runner-up prizes: Up to $50,000 in several major categories.
- Special awards: Cash awards of $20,000–$25,000 for selected categories, including social and multiplayer experiences, agentic interaction, accessibility and originality.
- Developer exposure: Winning projects may be featured on Meta’s developer blog, livestream and social channels.
