Can a school student’s essay reach the President of India and inspire a nation?

The Tata Building India School Essay Competition is one of the key initiatives undertaken by the Tata Group to motivate the youth of India towards thinking about nation building, providing a unique platform to encourage young leaders of tomorrow to showcase their expressions in writing. Now in its 17th edition, this is India’s largest and most prestigious school essay competition, with school students participating from 500 cities, writing in more than 13 languages. Over the last 16 years, the Tata Building India School Essay Competition has touched nearly 35 million school students across India.

  • Eligibility: Students studying in Classes 6 to 12 in any recognized school across India. Junior Category for Classes 6 to 8 and Senior Category for Classes 9 to 12

📅 Important Dates

  • School Registration: Open now. Schools register free of charge using the Register Your School button on the official Tata Building India website
  • Event or Submission Date: Competition conducted at the school on a mutually agreed date between the school coordinator and TCS iON representative, typically between July and August annually
  • Results Announcement: City level winners announced first, followed by national level winners announced by the Tata Group after independent academic and literary judging
  • Mode: Offline, conducted at the registered school campus
  • Venue: Participating student’s own school campus across India

  • Prize Type: Cash prizes, trophies, and certificates at school, city, and national levels
  • Prize Amount or Value: The 1st and 2nd place winners at the city level in the respective language in both Junior and Senior categories are awarded exciting prizes by the Tata Group.
