📌 About the Event

The Big Code 2026 is Google India’s national level multi stage coding challenge for engineering students, powered by HackerEarth. It identifies India’s sharpest technical minds through a rigorous 5 round elimination process spanning approximately 5 weeks. The competition tests participants on data structures, algorithms, problem-solving speed, and AI innovation. The final round is a 48 hour technical hackathon where top 50 participants build AI based solutions. Top 15 finalists are then invited to present their work in-person at the Google office in Bengaluru. Note: Winning does not guarantee a job or internship at Google. The competition is judged purely on technical skill, code accuracy, and speed.

  • Category: National Coding Challenge, DSA, Algorithms, AI Hackathon
  • Eligibility: Full time engineering students currently enrolled in 1st, 2nd, or pre-final year graduating in 2027, 2028, or 2029. Must be from circuit branches: B.Tech or B.E. in CS, IT, ECE, EEE, or allied fields. M.Tech and Integrated Dual Degree students in these branches also eligible. Must be enrolled in an AICTE or UGC recognised Indian university. Minimum age 18 years. Google employees, interns, contractors, and their immediate family members are NOT eligible.
  • Team Size: Individual participation only. No team registrations allowed..
  • Effort Level: Very High. 5 competitive rounds over 5 weeks including a 48 hour finale hackathon. Requires strong command of Data Structures, Algorithms, coding speed, and AI problem solving.
  • Selection Process: Qualifying Round: MCQs and basic coding tasks on March 14 to 15, 2026. Top 15,000 advance.
    • Round 1: Algorithmic coding challenge. Top 1,500 advance.
    • Round 2: High stakes coding showdown. Top 50 advance.
    • Finale: 48hour AI themed technical hackathon for top 50. Top 15 invited for live presentation at Google Bengaluru.

📅 Important Dates

  • Registration Deadline: March 12, 2026 at 11:59 PM IST. No late entries accepted.
  • Qualifying Round: March 14 to 15, 2026
  • Result Declaration: April 2026.
  • Round 1: After qualifying results, approx. late March 2026
  • Round 2: After Round 1 results, approx. early April 2026
  • Final hackathon: Approx. April 2026, exact date emailed to top 50
  • Live Presentation at GooAgle Bengaluru: Approx. April 18, 2026

  • Cash Prizes: Top 10 participants share Rs 6,00,000 total pool (merit based, amounts vary by rank).
  • Hardware: Top 50 finalists each receive a Google Pixel device.
