UI / UX DESIGN COMPETITION
SIMATS Engineering
📌 About the Event
Hosted at SIMATS Engineering (Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Chennai), the UI / UX Design Competition is a live digital design challenge. The arena tasks product designers with translating an abstract problem statement into a functionally logical, visually cohesive, and production-ready digital interface prototype.
ℹ️ PORTAL OVERVIEW
- Host Institution: SIMATS Engineering, Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
- Format: On-Campus / Live Design Hack.
- Event Date: June 19, 2026
- Total Capacity Limit: Capped strictly at 100 Slots (Early registration is highly advised).
- Submission Asset: A single, shared Figma Link containing fully interactive design pages.
👥 TEAM STRUCTURE & CONFIGURATION
- Team Bounds: Scalable to 2 or 3 members per team (The core layout natively expects a Team of 3).
- Cross-Discipline Teams: Allowed, provided all participants maintain active college credentials.
🏁 COMPETITION ROADMAP & ROUNDS
The challenge evaluates the complete visual product engineering lifecycle split across two major delivery windows:
Round 1: Information Architecture & Structural Blueprinting
- Deliverables: Sitemap & Low-Fidelity Wireframes.
- Focus: Logic and structural navigation. Teams must visually map the multi-page user hierarchy (Sitemap) and sketch low-fidelity digital wireframes outlining fundamental layout layouts, user entry hooks, and structural spacing under precise time restrictions.
Round 2: High-Fidelity Interface Construction & Styling
- Deliverables: High-Fidelity Interactive Prototype.
- Focus: Visual balance and layout styling. Transforming structural sketches into high-fidelity UI layouts. This phase evaluates modern color theory application, micro-interactions, distinct typography scales, component reusability, and user-friendly UX elements.
📢 ENGAGEMENT RULES & DESIGN GUIDELINES
- Internet Regulations: Web browsing is exclusively authorized for importing vector assets, icons, and font libraries (e.g., Google Fonts, Font Awesome, Figma Community Kits), unless explicitly barred by on-spot coordinators.
- Pipeline Safety: Designers are individually responsible for saving ongoing iterations and exporting finished mockups into working states before the final buzzer. Late link shared status updates will not be processed.
- Content Moderation: Generating dark patterns, offensive graphics, or copying pre-existing production mockups triggers immediate, irreversible team-wide disqualification.
- Finality Clause: The evaluation metrics provided by the judging panel stand completely final and binding.
