📌About the Event
VERDICTA 1.0 is a national-level judgment writing competition organised by the JurisResearch Wing of JurisGrid. The competition gives law students an opportunity to assume the role of a judge, examine the legal issues presented in a proposition and draft a clear, structured and well-reasoned judgment. It aims to strengthen participants’ legal research, analytical reasoning, judicial writing and decision-making skills.

- Mode of Conduct: Online and submission-based
- Level: National
- Competition Format: Participants must study the given proposition and prepare a reasoned judgment addressing the legal issues involved.
- Participation Type: Students can participate individually or with one co-author.
- Maximum Team Size: Two participants
- Word Limit: Maximum 5,000 words, including footnotes
- Organising Wing: JurisResearch Wing of JurisGrid
- Objective: To help law students develop legal reasoning, analytical thinking, legal research and judicial writing skills.

🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Eligible Programmes: Students enrolled in a recognised three-year LL.B. programme or five-year integrated law programme can participate.
- Participation: Entries may be submitted by a single author or by a team of two co-authors.
- Judgment Requirement: Participants must assume the role of a judge and deliver a properly reasoned judgment based on the issues presented in the official proposition.
- Word Limit: The complete judgment, including footnotes, must not exceed 5,000 words.
- Plagiarism Limit: Plagiarism must remain below 10%.
- AI-Generated Content Limit: The use of AI-generated content must remain below 20%.
- Originality: Submissions should reflect the participants’ original legal research, reasoning and interpretation.
- Evaluation Focus: Entries will primarily be assessed on the quality of legal reasoning, analytical ability, application of relevant legal principles and effectiveness of judicial writing.
