📌About the Event
Vidyarthi Vigyan Manthan (VVM) 2026–27 is a national-level science talent search programme for students of Classes 6 to 11. It is organised by Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA) in collaboration with NCERT and the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM). The competition aims to identify students with strong scientific aptitude while developing interest in science, mathematics, logical reasoning and India’s scientific heritage. The programme progresses from online examinations to state and national-level camps featuring practical, analytical and scientific activities.
ℹ️ Event Details
- Type: National Science Talent Search Competition/Examination
- Eligible Classes: Classes VI to XI
- Boards: Students studying under CBSE, ICSE and State Boards can participate.
- Mode – Initial Rounds: Online/digital examination that can be taken through a desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile device.
- Level I Duration: 90 minutes
- Level I Pattern: 100 MCQs carrying 100 marks.
- Level II Duration: 45 minutes, with 50 multiple-correct MCQs carrying 100 marks and 0.5 negative marking for incorrect answers.
- State Level Camp: Conducted physically at a selected venue within the respective state and includes practical and application-oriented activities.
- National Camp: A two-day physical camp featuring scientific activities, presentations, creativity, innovation and leadership assessment.
📅 Important Dates
- Registration Opens: 3 April 2026.
- Last Date to Register: 30 September 2026.
- Mock Test: Available from 1 September 2026 onwards.
- Level I – Classes VI & VII: 16 November 2026 or 19 November 2026
- Level I – Classes VIII & IX: 17 November 2026 or 20 November 2026
- Level I – Classes X & XI: 18 November 2026 or 21 November 2026.
🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Eligibilty:
- Students currently studying in Classes VI, VII, VIII, IX, X or XI can participate.
- Students can register individually or through their school.
- Registration becomes complete only after successful payment of the applicable fee.
- Level I: 100 MCQs for 100 marks over 90 minutes.
- Level I includes:
- 50%: Science & Mathematics from NCERT/State Board curriculum
- 20%: Indian Contributions to Science
- 20%: Life stories of Anna Mani, Rohini Godbole and Asima Chatterjee
- 10%: Logic & Reasoning.
- Students must score at least 50% in Section A (20 out of 40 marks) for their Section B answers to be evaluated in Level I.
- Level II: 50 questions for 100 marks with -0.5 negative marking for an incorrect answer.
- The Level II merit list for State Level Camp selection is based on the combined marks of Sections A and B; Section A marks act as the first tie-breaker.

- Level I participants: Online participation certificate.
- School Toppers: Top 3 students per class can receive an online Merit Certificate, subject to the required participation strength.
- District Toppers: Top 3 rankers per class receive merit recognition; benefits include a fee waiver for Classes VI–X and a Science India e-magazine benefit for Class XI.
- State Level Winners – Top 3 per class:
- 1st Prize: ₹5,000
- 2nd Prize: ₹3,000
- 3rd Prize: ₹2,000

- Opportunity for an NCSM visit.
- National Winners – Top 3 per class:
- 1st Prize: ₹25,000
- 2nd Prize: ₹15,000
- 3rd Prize: ₹10,000

- SRIJAN Internship: National and zonal winners may receive 1–3 week internship opportunities at leading scientific and research institutions such as DRDO, ISRO, CSIR and BARC.
- Bhaskara Scholarship: Eligible National Winners can receive ₹2,000 per month for one year, subject to project evaluation and mentorship requirements.
- Winners may also receive opportunities to visit national science laboratories and interact with renowned scientists.
