📌About the Event
The VIII GD Goenka–CIArb (tition 2026 is an international law moot designed to give students practical exposure to commercial arbitration, legal research, memorial drafting and oral advocacy. The eighth edition focuses on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) considerations in international commercial arbitration, including issues connected with ESG compliance, technology governance and cross-border commercial disputes. Participants will present arguments before experienced arbitrators, legal practitioners and academics in a simulated arbitral tribunal environment.

- Theme: Environmental, Social and Governance considerations in international commercial arbitration.
- Mode of conduct: Offline and on-campus.
- Venue: School of Law, GD Goenka University, Sohna–Gurugram, Haryana, India.
- Competition dates: 25–27 September 2026.
- Competition format: Two preliminary rounds followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final round.
- Main components: Memorial drafting, researcher’s test and oral advocacy rounds.
- Team composition: Three members comprising two speakers and one researcher.
- Supporting organisations: Chartered Institute of Arbitrators—India, Society of Indian Law Firms and International Centre for Dispute Resolution—Singapore.

- Opening of registrations and release of moot proposition: 15 June 2026.
- Last date to submit clarifications: 30 July 2026.
- Release of clarifications: 5 August 2026.
- Registration deadline: 10 August 2026.
- Memorial submission deadline: 31 August 2026 by 11:59 PM IST.
- Submission of hard-copy memorials: 25 September 2026
🎯 Eligibility & Rules
- Who can participate:
- Undergraduate or postgraduate law students enrolled at a recognised institution in India or abroad can participate.
- Students pursuing full-time three-year or five-year undergraduate law programmes are eligible.
- Postgraduate students studying law or pursuing a course with law as a major are also eligible.
- Students enrolled only in short-term law certificate courses are not eligible.
- Only one team may represent a particular university, law school or institution.
- Each team must have three members: two speakers and one researcher.
🏆 Benefits for the Participants
- Winning team: ₹1,20,000 cash prize, trophy and certificate of appreciation.
- Runner-up team: ₹90,000 cash prize, trophy and certificate of appreciation.
- Best Oralist: ₹30,000 cash prize, trophy and certificate of appreciation.
- Best Researcher: ₹30,000 cash prize, trophy and certificate of appreciation.
- Best Memorial: ₹30,000 cash prize, trophy and certificate of appreciation.
- Additional incentives: Scholarships and training courses worth approximately ₹3,00,000.
- Participation certificates: Hard-copy certificates will be presented to all participants during the valedictory ceremony.
